Handley Page Halifax Mk.II L9619 ZA-E of 10 Squadron RAF dived into the ground near to Keld in North Yorkshire after being abandoned by its crew on the 16th February 1942. The crew baled out when the aircraft ran out fo fuel while returning from an unsuccessful raid on St Nazaire to RAF Leeming.

Not much remains at the crash site today, there are a few bits of metal bearing the 57 type number. At the site there is an old wooden post that once had a sign warning of unexploded bombs since when the aircraft crashed it was carrying its full bomb load.
