North American Mustang Mk.III SR411 of 316 (Polish) Squadron RAF crashed on Darwen Moor on the 29th July 1945 whilst on a flight from Coltishall in Norfolk.

Wreckage from the aircraft lies in the crater caused by the crash (and subsequent digs by a couple of groups).
While at the crash site the ground opened up and swallowed Mark (though he soon got out). Such are the perils of our hobby.
