Consolidated B-24H 42-51202 of the 310th Ferry Squadron, 27th Air Transport Group, crashed on Snaefell on the 8th June 1944.

The aircraft was being ferried from BAD 2 at Warton in Lancashire to Langford Lodge in Northern Ireland during the mid evening of the 8th June 1944. While flying in low cloud the aircraft struck Snaefell killing the four crew. The wreck was found the following day by a police officer leading a group of internees on a hike from Peel.

No large items of wreckage remain at the site today, however the site is littered with items like those shown in this photo.
