Survived

The pilot, and owner of the aircraft since it was first registered after release from RAF surplus in 1949, was flying the aircraft from Blackpool to Carlisle when he entered cloud, at some point after this the aircraft struck the western side of Lank Rigg. Mr Foster was able to make his own way down off the hill after the incident.

Almost nothing remains at the site, which is on the grassy western slope of Lank Rigg.

The only sizable pieces from the aircraft are these, a short section of undercarriage leg and a strengthening plate from one of the spars.

One of the other small pieces of steel framework found in the grass at the site.
