The identity of the aircraft and its pilot are a mystery, and probably will now remain so for ever, the small amount that is known was reported in the Buxton newspapers shortly after the accident.

The pilot was attempting to force land the aircraft in a field near Buxton Cemetery due to engine trouble when he struck a rise in the field. The aircraft was written off in the accident with the damage listed as, propeller broken, lower left wing crumpled and fuselage snapped in two.
