de Havilland DH80A Puss Moth G-AAZN, crashed near Bradnop on the 23rd November 1934.

The 24 year old owner, and pilot, of the aircraft was flying from Southampton to Barton Aerodrome near Manchester when he encountered thick fog. While flying in these low visibility conditions the aircraft was heard to crash by the occupants of a farm near Bradnop. They rushed to help but found the wreck ablaze and the pilot dead.

The crash site is situated very close to the farm, which is now a private house, we were able to obtained permission for a single search from the owner of the house to search the crash site but no remains were discovered. This is thought to be due to landscaping that took place in the intervening years which has changed the profile of the slope the crash occurred on.
