Clive Roy Briggs RAAF Flight Sergeant Pilot Uninjured

The pilot had wandered into the high ground around Buxton after becoming disorientated in poor weather.  He pulled up sharply to avoid striking a hill and lost control of the aircraft, after this he abandoned the aircraft which crashed near to the RAF station at Harpur Hill.

A photograph taken from Axe Edge looking at where the aircraft crashed, the aircraft struck a barn adjacent to the farm in the centre of the photo and ended up in the yard. The pilot came down in a field below the farm and walked up to the house carrying his parachute.
