This incident is recorded in the record book of No.28 Maintenance Unit at Harpur Hill. At 13:30 th Duty Officer was telephoned to inform him that an aircraft had crashed at Water Swallows on the north east side of Buxton. The MRT were sent out but when they arrived they found that it was not a crash but a precautionary forced landing because the pilot had become lost. The aircraft type or even general description were not recorded but it is thought that the aircraft was a small privately operated type.
