The aircraft was lost whilst on a
ferry flight from Blackburn's factory at Sherburn-in-Elmet near Leeds to
Harwarden near Chester. The pilot was attempting to fly above the cloud which
covered the hills and it is thought he was descending thinking that he had
cleared the hills but a head wind may have slowed his progress and therefore
meant he was still over the hills as he descended. The aircraft struck the
moorland and the aircraft was destroyed.

A large section of wing and tubular aluminium lie on the summit of Round Hill, seen here in April 2000.

The same section of wing photographed in 2006.

A large section of wing root and spar lies near to the other
wreckage, around this is where much of the aircraft was buried following the
crash.

A more recent photograph of the section of wing spar and scar where the aircraft crashed.

A view of the same area of the crash site looking east.
