While on a bombing raid against targets in the Leith area of Edinburgh the aircraft flew into Hare Hill to the south of the city killing all of the crew. The aircraft had over shot Leith and the crew had jettisoned the aircraft's bomb load which fell onto farm land, shortly afterwards the aircraft ploughed into the hill.

Above is a photograph of the small post that marks the site with a plaque naming the four crew, this photograph was taken in May 2005.
