Lockheed P-38J 42-67859 of the 402nd Fighter Squadron, 370th Fighter Group 9th Air Force USAAF. Crashed in the Ochlon Valley in the Black Mountains on the 12th April 1944. The aircraft was on a cross country navigation exercise from Andover when it crashed.

A photo showing Mark at the site with the few bits of the aircraft that remain. Behind is a scar in which some tiny fragments can be found.
This site is actually in England but only by a few hundred yards so I have not created a new section for Southern England as I only have this aircraft which could go in that section.
