Whitley Mk.V T4138 coded KN-H of 77 Squadron RAF, crashed on Arden Great Moor near Osmotherly in the North Yorkshire Moors on the 16th December 1940. The aircraft was outbound to Berlin when one of the aircraft's engines caught fire.

Three of the crew, P/O Miller, Sgt Gilbert and Sgt Thorpe had previously survived the ditching of Whitley T4151 off the Northumbrian coast a month before this crash.

Very little of the aircraft remains today, on the day we visited the site most of it covered with snow.
