Flight Lieutenants Lane and Lewis left RAF Valley on Anglesey for a low level training exercise which would have taken the aircraft to RAF Lossiemouth near Inverness. The pair took off at about 10:20, shortly after while flying in light cloud the aircraft struck Clagh Ouyr and broke up over a wide area killing the two crew instantly.

Little remains at the crash site, what does has been gathered up into a small collection below a prominent rock, this collection is shown here.
