The aircraft had left Prestwick for a navigation training flight, the burnt out wreck was discovered the following day by a shepherd on the lower slopes of Corserine. One of the aircraft which was sent to search for the aircraft was also lost when it crashed very close to the wreck of L9153, this was Tiger Moth L6932 also from No.12 E&RFTS. Both of the occupants of that aircraft survived.

The site where the aircraft burned out is marked by a small scar on the hillside containing numerous fragments.

Scattered around are numerous panels and sections of undercarriage.

Another collection of panels.

Also close by is this collection of engine and undercarriage parts.
Both engine are still present, lying a short way down the hill.
