Above is an image of the aircraft from its time on the UK register as G-AHJY

The aircraft was being ferried from Croydon to Iceland via Liverpool and Prestwick.  The crew became disorientated in cloud and flew into high ground. The aircraft was built as an Oxford Mk.I HN471 for the RAF, but it did not see any active service. It was sold back to Airspeed in March 1946 and was registered at G-AHJY and was owned by a number of companies before being sold to Icelandic Airline in January 1951.  During the same day as TF-RPM crashed the RAF lost two Meteors in the Peak District.

One of the aircraft's Cheetah engines, as can be seen everything but the main block has been taken.

Also at the site are numerous wooden crosses.

More recently there has been digging at the site, I'd estimate it began sometime during 2006 though there is evidence of smaller excavations dating to before January 2005, a large number of items have been brought to the surface, as show in the photograph seen below. In the bottom of the hole is the top of the second engine, though this is in quite poor condition.
