He111H-5 Werk No. F/4801 IT+EL of 3/KG 28 Luftwaffe flew into the northern end of Llwydmor on the 14th April 1941 while attempting to return to France after attacking the ship yards at Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria.

Not much remains at the crash site today, but there is a large bare patch on the hillside where the aircraft burned out.
