The location has been recorded in a number of areas, No.16 Balloon Centre at Sheffield recorded the location in their Operations Record Book as Bamford Edge while more recently a possible location of Burbage Moor has been suggested. However both of these locations have proven to be incorrect as the pilots death was registered in the Outseats parish, withing the Bakewell district. The parish of Bamford, which includes all of Bamford Edge, is in the Chapel en le Frith district and Burbage Moor is in the Sheffield registration district. The present Derbyshire / Yorkshire boundary in the Hathersage area was defined before the outbreak of World War 2.

So far the crash site has not been positively determined by anyone since WW2.
