Wreckage at the crash site of Avro Lancaster RA571 on Beamsley Beacon, Yorkshire
At the time of our earlier visits to the site not much remained of RA571, just a small collection of burnt fragments in a well hidden hollow in the heather.

At some point after 2002 some diggin occurred at the crash site which left a second collection of parts. This is much more obvious than the previous collection (which is still there).

Some distance from the crash site, and well away from any of the footpaths on the hill is this wooden board with a laminated list of the crew of RA571 left by No.1224 (Wharfdale) Squadron, ATC in November 2011, the text largely being from Richard Allenby’s Yorkshire Aircraft website.
