While virtually no wreckage remains at the crash site, it is marked by a wooden memorial cross which was placed at the site by members of the Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum in 2012.A closer view of the cross, in the soil close by are some small pieces of wire, glass and woodThe view towards the village of Wanlockhead from the crash site.Sergeant George Stevenson was buried at Carlisle (Dalston Road) Cemetery, above is his grave. While nothing to do aviation an interesting feature on Lowther Hill, besides the NATS radar station and various other transmitters, is this former tractor which is a short way down the hill from the crash site of W9112. It was used in the Wanlockhead / Leadhills area during the 1960s and 1970s as ski tow and when it was finally retired from use it stayed where it was.
