Douglas Boston Mk.III Z2186 of No.418 Squadron RCAF, flew into Carnedd Dafydd in the Carneddau on Saturday 17th October 1942 whilst on a cross country navigation training flight from Bradwell Bay in Essex
Mervyn Sims | Sergeant RCAF | Pilot | Injured |
Harold Francis Longworth | Flight Lieutenant RCAF | Air Observer | Killed |
Ronald Walker | Sergeant RAFVR | Navigator / Bomb Aimer | Killed |
The interesting fact that I noticed with the crew was that two of them were navigators, since Air Observer was the term used used for the combined role of navigator & bomb aimer in the early war years.
