Robert Bruce McIntyre Pilot Officer RCAF Pilot Killed

 

The pilot was on a flight from Speke near Liverpool to RAF Valley on Anglesey where he was to take part in an air-to-air firing exercise. He had entered cloud and become lost, eventually flying into high ground on Allt-y-Ceffylau near Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Very little remains at the crash site which is high up on the mountain-side. This is a bracket with a small amount of tubing from the aircraft’s framework.

Among the scree at the crash site are numerous pieces of shattered aluminium castings.

The largest remainin piece of wreckage is this section of armour plating from the aircraft.
