Avro Anson DJ275 of No.10 (O)AFU crashed on Sca Fell on the 9th August 1943 while flying from Dumfries

The crew were on a navigation exercise from Dumfries when they flew into the southern side of Sca Fell above Cam Spout killing all on board.

Most of the remaining wreckage is scattered in the rocks, though there is this small collection of parts, mainly from one of the aircraft’s engines
