Cessna 152 G-BJKY of Westair crashed on Ingleborough on the 21st March 2011

Normally we wouldn’t cover very recent crashes but as remarkably both occupants of this aircraft survived, albeit with injuries, and the site is likely to change before long I have decided to include on the web site. At some point in the future we may well return to show how it changes.

The aircraft was being used for a night flying lesson from Blackpool Airport with a student and instructor onboard when it flew into the south eastern side of Ingleborough. The two men were able to contact the emergency services who located the crash site with a few hours and took them to hospital in Lancaster.

The following sequence of photographs shows the wreck as it was on the 25th March 2011

This photograph shows the extent of the damage to the cockpit area, which had been badly damaged, it is remarkable given the level of damage that broken bones were the worst injuries suffered.
